ABSTRACT: An N-substituted carbamoyl-lactam compound of the formula Image wherein R is a radical derived from polytetramethyleneglycol R(OH)2 and represents the radical remaining from the polytetramethy- lene oxide starting material used in preparing polytetramethylene- glycol and has an equivalent weight of 300-2500, R' is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl or an aralkyl group having 6-25 carbon atoms, Y is a C3-C14 alkylene group, and a has a value of at least 1. This compound is suitable as an activator for the lactam polymerization, especially in RIM applications.
