PRECIS L'invention concerne une composition tinctoriale pour la teinture d'oxydation des fibres kératiniques, et en particulier des cheveux humains, en milieu alcalin réducteur, comprenant au moins un précurseur de colorant d'oxydation et au moins une orthonitraniline N-substituée dans un véhicule aqueux. La composition tinctoriale selon l'invention est caractérisée par le fait que la ou les orthonitranilines N- substituées sont choisies parmi les composés de formule: Image (I) dans laquelle R1 désigne un groupe alkyle ou alkyle mono- ou polyhydroxylé, R2 un atome d'hydrogène, un groupe amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, mono ou di (mono- ou polyhydroxy- alkyl)amino, (N-alkyl, N-mono- ou polyhydroxyalkyl)amino, alcoxy, alcoxy mono- ou polyhydroxylé ou aminoalcoxy, et R3 désigne un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle, l'un au moins des substituants R2 ou R3 étant différent de l'hydro- gène, sous réserve que si R1 désigne le groupe -CH2CH2OH, R2 ne peut représenter un groupe di(monohydroxyalkyl)amino, et leurs sels cosmétiquement acceptables. Le milieu alcalin ré- ducteur est non ammoniacal et comprend un bisulfite alcalin ou d'ammonium,et au moins une alcanolamine choisie dans le groupe constitué par les N-alkyl (C1-C4) éthanolamines, les N,N-di (alkyl C1-C4) éthanolamines, les di(hydroxyalkyl C2-C3)amines, le 2-amino 2-méthyl 1-propanol, le 2-diméthylamino 2-méthyl 1-propanol, le 2-amino 2-éthyl 1,3-propanediol, le 2-amino 2-méthyl 1,3-propanediol, et le 2-amino 2-hydroxyméthyl 1,3-propanediol.
