Heterocyclic derivatives of di-N-substituted piperazine or 1,4 di-substituted piperidine compounds in accordance with formula (I) (including all isomers salts and solvates), wherein one of Y and Z is -N- and the other is -N- or -CH-; X is -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO2- or -CH2-; Q is (1), (2), (3); R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl; R1, R2 and R3 are H or alkyl; R4 is alkyl, cyclolalkyl or (4); R5 is H, alkyl, -C(O)alkyl, arylcarbonyl, -SO2alkyl, aryl- sulfonyl-C(O)Oalkyl, aryloxycarbonyl, -C(O)NH-alkyl or aryl-aminocarbonyl, wherein the aryl portion is optionally substituted; R6 is H or alkyl; and R7 is H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkoxyalkyl; are muscarinic antagonists useful for treating cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treatment are also disclosed.

Dérivés hétérocycliques de composés de pipérazine di-N-substituée ou de pipéridine 1,4-disubstituée représentés par la formule (I) (y compris tous les isomères, sels et solvats) dans laquelle l'un d'entre Y et Z est -N- et l'autre est N- ou -CH-; X est -O-, -S-, -SO-, -SO2- ou -CH2-, Q est de formule (1), (2) ou (3), R est alkyle, cycloalkyle, aryle ou hétéroaryle éventuellement substitués, R<1>, R<2> et R<3> sont H ou alkyle, R<4> est alkyle, cycloalkyle ou la formule (4), R<5> est H, alkyle, -C(O)alkyle, arylcarbonyle, -SO2alkyle, aryl-sulfonyl-C(O)Oalkyle, aryloxycarbonyle, -C(O)NH-alkyle ou aryl-aminocarbonyle, la partie aryle étant éventuellement substituée, R<6> est H ou alkyle, R<7> est H, alkyle, hydroxyalkyle ou alcoxyalkyle. Lesdits dérivés sont des antagonistes de muscarine utiles pour traiter des troubles cognitifs tels que la maladie d'Alzheimer. Des compositions pharmaceutiques et des méthodes de traitement sont également décrites.
