ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE N-tertiarybutyl silylamides of the formula Image where n is 2 or 3, R is methyl, ethyl, vinyl, phenyl or 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl, R' is methyl or ethyl and t-Bu is N-tertiarybutyl, are extremely rapid silylating agents and are especially good for silylation in connection with the separation of complex mixtures. A typical compound is Image , where Me is methyl. These compounds are useful as silylating agents for ureas and complex mixtures.
