ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Esters of C4-C10 saturated fatty acids with N-trifluoroacetyladri- amycin are described, together with processes for their preparation. These compounds have the following structure: Image in which A is alkanoate having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms. Therapeutic com- positions containing these compounds or the acetate or propionate of N-tri- fluoroacetyladriamycin are more effective than adriamycin in antitumor activ- ity and at the same time significantly less toxic than adriamycin.
