The present disclosure provides methods of diagnosing cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer by detect-ing Na+, K+-ATPase expression. For example, it is demon-strated herein that expression of the Na+, K+-ATPase .beta.1-sub-unit increases in cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer, rel-ative to normal cervical tissue. Also provided are methods of treating cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer by decreas-ing the biological activity of the Na+, K+- ATPase. For ex-ample, therapeutically effective amounts of one or more Na+, K+-ATPase inhibitors can be applied to the cervix to treat cer-vical dysplasia and cervical cancer.

La présente invention concerne des méthodes de diagnostic de la dysplasie du col de l'utérus et du cancer du col de l'utérus par détection de l'expression de Na<SUP>+</SUP>/K<SUP>+</SUP>-ATPase. Par exemple, il est ici démontré que l'expression de la sous-unité ß1 de la Na<SUP>+</SUP>/K<SUP>+</SUP>-ATPase augmente lors de dysplasie du col de l'utérus et du cancer du col de l'utérus, par rapport au tissu du col de l'utérus normal.
