An apparatus is disclosed for holding and operating a nail clipper. The nail clipper has two clipper arms joined in a sprung apart position at a pivot end, and with opposing shears at the opposite end. A lever is located on one of the arms to close the shears. The apparatus generally comprises a shaft having a slot at a first end of the shaft to receive the pivot end of the nail clipper with the shears protruding outwardly from the shaft and with the lever arm of the nail clipper angled away from the first shaft end. A second end of the shaft has a trigger operably connected to the lever arm of the nail clipper by a cable. This permits an operator of the apparatus to move the trigger to press the clipper lever onto the clipper arm to close the shears on a nail.
