A nail designed to be initially driven through a first board, and into a second board so as to assemble the boards with the boards engaging each other, and to be subsequently pulled, as by a crowbar or a claw on a hammer head, so as to disassemble the boards. The nail has a head and a shank with a pointed end. A relatively smooth portion of the shank extends axially from the pointed end for a substantial distance. A relatively rough portion, which is formed with annular, frustoconical rings defining annular grooves, extends axially from between the relatively smooth portion toward the head for a distance equal approximately to the thickness of the first board. A relatively smooth portion extends axially between the relatively rough portion and the head. The nail has differential holding capabilities per unit length along its shank, when driven into wooden boards.
L'invention porte sur un clou conçu pour être enfoncé dans une première planche, puis dans une deuxième planche, de façon à assembler ces dernières en les engageant l'une avec l'autre. Le clou est ensuite retiré des planches au moyen d'une pince-monseigneur ou de l'arrache-clou sur la tête d'un marteau afin de séparer ces dernières. Le clou comporte une tête et une tige à extrémité pointue. Une portion relativement lisse de la tige se prolonge axialement à partir de la pointe sur une bonne partie. Une portion relativement rude, formée d'anneaux tronconiques définissant des rainures annulaires, se prolonge axialement vers la tête à partir de la portion relativement lisse sur une distance égale à environ l'épaisseur de la première planche. Une portion relativement lisse se prolonge axialement entre la portion relativement rude et la tête. Le clou présente, le long de sa tige, différentes résistances à l'arrachement par unité de longueur lorsqu'il est enfoncé dans des planches de bois.
