Abstract of the Disclosure A nailer for repeatively driving nails one at a time into material when a safety yoke movably carried on a nose of the nailer is forcibly pressed by an operator against the material to be nailed. When the safety yoke having an integral safety yoke lever moves upwardly against a com- pression spring, the safety yoke lever cams against a safety yoke pin in the body of the nailer and actuates a secondary trigger pivotally mounted in a trigger of the nailer. When the operator pulls the trigger, the secondary trigger actuates a valve plunger in a trigger valve assembly releasing the air over a poppet assembly, and compressed air passes through a chamber in an upper handle of the body of the nailer causing downward movement of a pneumatic piston assembly carrying a driver blade to thereby drive a nail held in a channel guide of the nose into the material. Air pressure builds up in a chamber in a lower handle of the body to bring the piston assembly to a rest position at the lowest point of travel. The poppet valve-assembly cooperating with a valve seal and exhaust deflector exhausts the air above the piston assembly during the return of the piston assembly to a rest position. A plurality of tabs on the nose mechani- cally engage and frictionally lock a nail magazine to the nose to supply a succession of nails to the nose during repeated nailing. A scroll spring assembly affixes to the nose and biases a pusher in an adjacent track of the magazine towards the nose. A stop in an outer end of the nail maga- zine prevents the pusher from being pulled out of the nail magazine and functions as a latch for the pusher during loading of nails through a slot disposed in the top of the nail magazine. A safety yoke detent biased away from the nose by a compression spring is moved forwardly into a detent notch in the safety yoke by the pusher when the supply of nails remaining in the magazine reaches a predetermined number thereby preventing upward movement of the safety yoke on the nose and subsequent actuation of the secondary trigger by the safety yoke pin.
