ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A nailing staple for securing an electrical cable has stops to prevent the sides of the staple from being driven into a supporting surface. The staple comprises a one piece U-shaped strap formed from sheet metal having a flat top member, two side members extending down on each side of the top member, the two side members having nail holding lugs on exterior surfaces, and seat tabs extending outwards from the bottom ends of the side members to provide stops, the seat tabs each having a nail hole in line with the nail holding lug on each side member, and two nails for the nail holding lugs and the nail holes in the seat tabs.
