Featured are devices and systems embodying one or more solid-state nanopores useable for sensing and/or characterizing single macromolecules as well as sequencing DNA or RNA and/or determining RNA secondary structures. In once solid state nanopore of the present invention the width and/ or length of the nanopore is defined or established by sharp edges of cleaved crystals that are maintained in fixed relation during the formation of the insulating member including the nanopore. In another aspect of the present invention, there is featured a linear or 2-D electrically addressable array of nanopores, where the nanopores are located at points of intersections between grooves formed in an upper surface of the insulating member and a groove formed in a lower surface of the insulating member.
L'invention concerne des dispositifs et des systèmes comportant un ou plusieurs nanopores à l'état solide permettant de détecter et/ou de caractériser des macromolécules uniques, et de séquencer de l'ADN ou de l'ARN et/ou de déterminer des structures secondaires d'ARN. Dans une forme de réalisation, la largeur et/ou la longueur du nanopore est définie ou établie par des arêtes tranchantes de cristaux clivés qui sont maintenus fixes pendant la formation de l'élément isolant incluant le nanopore. Un autre aspect de l'invention concerne un réseau de nanopores linéaires ou électriquement adressables en 2D, dans lequel les nanopores sont situés à des points d'intersection entre des rainures formées dans une surface supérieure de l'élément isolant et une rainure formée dans une surface inférieure de l'élément isolant.
