A nasal interface device (2) for use in the nares of a patient for positive airway pressure applications includes a pair of nasal prongs (18), each prong having a bore (11), a first end, a second end, and at least one deformable flap (20) disposed proximate to the first end of each prong. The device further includes a body having a distal portion (16) and a proximal portion (14) forming a chamber, the proximal portion (14) having apertures to receive the second ends of the nasal prongs, the chamber being in communication with the bores of the nasal prongs, and at least one exhalation port (22) disposed within the body. The device includes at least one gas inlet (24) on the distal portion of the body, the at least one gas inlet in communication with the chamber. The at least one flap is deformable within the nares of a patient thereby creating a substantially airtight seal.

Dispositif d'interface nasal conçu pour être monté dans les narines d'un patient pour des applications de pressions positives dans les voies respiratoires. Ce dispositif comprend une paire de branches nasales présentant chacune un passage traversant, une première extrémité, une seconde extrémité, et au moins un volet déformable disposé à proximité de la première extrémité de chaque branche. Le dispositif possède en outre un corps comportant une partie distale et une partie proximale formant une chambre. La partie proximale présente des ouvertures prévues pour recevoir les secondes extrémités des branches nasales. Sur la partie centrale du corps, le dispositif comprend au moins une entrée de gaz en communication avec la chambre. Le volet qui se déforme à l'intérieur des narines du patient crée un joint sensiblement hermétique à l'air.
