A nasogastric tube insertion system comprises a nasogastric tube, a guide element, and an inserter element. The inserter element has a slim, elongate main body, a handle attached to the body, and an anatomically curved insertion section. The guide element comprises a swallowable weight attached to a cord, string, monofilament line, or other similar line. The nasogastric tube comprises a tube having one or more interior bores or lumina and a guide element capture structure. In use, the swallowable weight is placed onto the end of the inserter element. The inserter element is inserted through the patient's nasal passages and optionally into the oropharynx. The weight is released and the patient swallows it into the stomach. The guide element is threaded through the guide element retaining structure, and the nasogastric tube is safely inserted along the guide element into the patient's stomach. The tube and guide element are removed together when no longer needed.
L'invention concerne un système d'insertion de sonde nasogastrique comportant une sonde nasogastrique, un élément de guidage et un élément applicateur. L'élément applicateur est doté d'un corps principal allongé mince, d'une poignée fixée au corps et d'un tronçon d'insertion anatomiquement incurvé. L'élément de guidage comporte un poids ingérable et fixé à un cordon, un fil, une ligne mono-filament ou tout autre ligne similaire. La sonde nasogastrique comprend un tube doté d'un ou plusieurs alésages ou lumières intérieurs et une structure de capture d'élément de guidage. Pendant l'utilisation, le poids ingérable est placé à l'extrémité de l'élément applicateur. L'élément applicateur est inséré par les passages nasals du patient et éventuellement dans l'oropharynx. Le poids est libéré et le patient l'avale, l'amenant dans l'estomac. L'élément de guidage est enfilé dans la structure de retenue de l'élément de guidage et la sonde nasogastrique est insérée en toute sécurité le long de l'élément de guidage jusque dans l'estomac du patient. La sonde et l'élément de guidage sont retirés lorsqu'ils ne sont plus nécessaires.
