Le renfort est de forme concave pour s'adapter au contour de la base du doigt. Le renfort est souple pour s'ajuster à la courbe de l'ongle. Le renfort excède l'ongle naturel. Après être collé, l'excédent du renfort est coupé, à l'aide d'un coupe-ongle, à la même longueur que l'ongle naturel. Le surplus du renfort est limé pour obtenir une finition uniforme avec l'ongle naturel.
