A navigation system for disabled persons, in particular visually impaired persons. The navigation system comprises a plurality of transponders (10, 10', 10''; 100) with RFID tags (14), said transponders (10, 10', 10''; 100) being installed at known locations and each of said RFID tags (14) having a unique identifier. The navigation system further comprises a database (66) comprising a mapping of the unique identifiers to the known locations. This system also comprises a portable device (50) having a transceiver (40) for communication with at least one proximate transponder (10, 10', 10''; 100), a storage means (54) for storing content of the database, a processing means (52) for determining information in accordance with the database (66) and the unique identifier of the proximate transponder (10, 10', 10''; 100) and an interface (56) for providing the information to the disabled persons. The transponders (10, 10', 10''; 100) are embedded in footpaths (30, 70) and/or border surfaces of footpaths. Also described is a method for providing a navigation system infrastructure and a transponder (10, 10', 10''; 100) for use in a navigation system.
Cette invention concerne un système de navigation pour handicapés, notamment pour malvoyants, qui comprend plusieurs transpondeurs (10, 10', 10''; 100) avec étiquettes RFID (14), ces transpondeurs (10, 10', 10''; 100) étant placés dans des positions connues et chacune de ces étiquettes RFID (14) comportant un identificateur unique. Ce système de navigation comprend en outre une base de données (66) comportant la cartographie des identificateurs uniques par rapport aux positions connues. Ce système comprend également un dispositif portable (50) pourvu d'un émetteur/récepteur (40) destiné à communiquer avec au moins un transpondeur proche (10, 10', 10''; 100), une mémoire (54) destinée à mémoriser le contenu de la base de données, un processeur (52) destiné à déterminer les informations en fonction de la base de données (66) et en fonction de l'identificateur unique du transpondeur proche (10, 10', 10''; 100) et une interface (56) destinée à fournir les informations aux personnes malvoyantes. Ces transpondeurs (10, 10', 10''; 100) sont incorporés dans les voies piétonnières (30, 70) et/ou dans les surfaces en bordure des voies piétonnières. Cette invention concerne également un procédé de formation d'une infrastructure pour ce système de navigation et un transpondeur (10, 10', 10''; 100) à utiliser dans ce système de navigation.
