There is described a one-piece hockey player's garment having an inner and outer layer and a neck protector device incorporated into a neck portion of the shirt and made of a flexible slash resistant material. This is enclosed within the inner and outer layers of the material of the neck portion and extends around the player's neck to protect it. Integral expansion bands are provided across opposite ends of the plastic material to permit the player to pull the shirt over the player's head. The slash resistant material may be, for example, plastic, nylon, leather, latex, fibreglass, graphite or any similar or synthetic material formed into a link mesh.
