This needle, which has an eye that opens, is designed to be used when the three-dimensional fabric of a composite reinforcing member is stitched. The needle is used to remove rigid pins and them with lengths of wire. There is a blind hole along the axis of the needle at the end near the eye; the end of the blind hole is open and connected to the outside by a channel on an oblique angle to the axis of the shank of the needle and opening laterally close to the eye, between the eye and the end of the shank.
