A method for neighbor scanning in a wireless local area network having a station, a first access point (AP) to which the station is associated, and a second AP begins by generating timing information regarding a beacon signal sent by the second AP. The timing information is reported from the first AP to the station. The station schedules a time, based on the timing information, to listen for the beacon signal transmitted by the second AP.

La présente invention a trait à un procédé de balayage de canaux voisins dans un réseau local comportant une station, un premier point d'accès auquel la station est associée, et un deuxième point d'accès débute par la génération d'une information de synchronisation concernant un signal de balise envoyé par le deuxième point d'accès. L'information de synchronisation est rapportée du premier point d'accès vers la station. La station établit un programme temporel en fonction de l'information de synchronisation, pour attendre le signal de balise transmis par le deuxième point d'accès.
