A keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) switching protocol is disclosed in which KVM information is applied to a network of workstations (35). At least one data converter (47) communicates on the workstation network and retrieves KVM information from the workstation network that is addressed to a server assigned to the converter. The converter places the KVM information in a format suitable to the assigned server and applies the converted KVM information to the appropriate standard device ports of the server. The system provides motherboard (42) access to the servers that is characteristics of KVM switches but provides essentially unlimited scalability not known in traditional KVM switches.
L'invention concerne un protocole de commutation KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) dans lequel les informations KVM sont appliquées à un réseau de stations de travail (35). Au moins un convertisseur de données (47) communique sur le réseau de stations de travail et en extrait des informations KVM qui s'adressent à un serveur affecté au convertisseur. Ce convertisseur place ces informations KVM dans un format approprié au serveur affecté et applique les informations KVM converties aux ports normalisés appropriés du serveur. Ce système crée un accès par carte-mère (42) aux serveurs qui est caractéristique des commutateurs KVM mais qui confère une variabilité dimensionnelle sensiblement illimitée inconnue chez les commutateurs KVM classiques.
