The present invention provides a method and apparatus for restricting operation of a wireless telephone (130) to delineated geographical areas. The wireless telephone system (90) is equipped with a device for ascertaining (step 300) the geographical location of the wireless telephone (130). The ascertained geographical location is compared (step 305) against information pertaining to the authorization to operate the wireless telephone (130) in various geographical locations. A determination is made (step 310) as to whether operation is authorized and the wireless telephone (130) is instructed (step 330) by the wireless telephone system (90) to disable operation if unauthorized.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de restreindre le fonctionnement d'un téléphone sans fil (130) à des zones géographiques délimitées. Le système de radiotéléphonie (90) est équipé d'un dispositif destiné à vérifier (étape 300) la position géographique du téléphone sans fil (130). Une fois établie, la position géographique est comparée (étape 305) aux informations stipulant si le téléphone sans fil (130) est autorisé à fonctionner en divers emplacements géographiques. On détermine (étape 310) si le téléphone est autorisé à fonctionner et si tel n'est pas le cas, le système de radiotéléphonie (90) ordonne la déconnexion du téléphone sans fil (130).
