A method for supplying data from a table in a device responsive to network management protocol commands includes receiving a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) designated as a table block access request (TBAR), identifying the PDU as a TBAR, obtaining an Object Identifier (OI) of a table to be read from the PDU, obtaining an index to a row to be read from the table from the PDU, determining the number of rows to be read based on information obtained from the PDU, looking up information in the table based on the OI and the index, composing a response PDU containing information read from the table for multiple rows based on the number of rows to be read, and outputting a response packet (RP). Optionally, OIs are only included in the RP if requested, and abbreviated OIs are included in the RP. Network devices implementing the method are also provided.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour fournir des données d'une table se trouvant dans un appareil réagissant à des commandes de protocole de gestion de réseau. Le procédé selon l'invention comporte les étapes suivantes: réception d'une unité de données de protocole (PDU) désignée sous forme d'une demande d'accès à un bloc de table (TBAR); identification de l'unité PDU comme demande TBAR; extraction de l'unité PDU d'un identificateur d'objet (OI) d'une table à lire; extraction de l'unité PDU de l'indice d'une ligne à lire dans la table; détermination du nombre de lignes à lire en fonction des informations obtenues dans la PDU; recherche des informations dans la table en fonction de l'identificateur d'objet et de l'indice; constitution d'une PDU réponse contenant les informations lues dans la table pour plusieurs lignes en fonction du nombre de lignes à lire; émission d'un paquet de réponse (RP). De manière facultative, les identificateurs d'objets ne sont inclus que sur demande dans le paquet de réponse et des identificateurs d'objets abrégés figurent dans le paquet de réponse. L'invention concerne également des appareils de réseau réalisant le procédé selon l'invention.
