A new chemical compound, ketopantoyl aminobutyrate of formula I: Image (I) and its salts. The compound is obtained by interaction of ketopantolactone and a salt of .gamma.-aminobutyric acid. It was shown that the new compound exhibits sedative, anti-amnesic and antihypoxic properties.

L'invention concerne la synthèse d'un nouveau composé, le cétopantoyle amino butyrate de la formule (I), ainsi que ces sels. On obtient les composés en faisant réagir une cétopantolactone avec un sel d'acide gamma -aminobutyrique. On a démontré que les nouveaux composés présentent des propriétés sédatives, anti-amnésiques et anti-hypoxiques.
