The invention provides a new enteroviral species called EV79, and functional parts, derivatives and analogues of said virus. Proteinaceous molecules capable of specifically binding EV79, such as isolated or recombinant antibodies, are also herewith provided. A virus and/or proteinaceous molecule of the invention is particularly suitable for diagnosis of an EV79 related disease. Vaccines, pharmaceutical compositions and diagnostic kits comprising said virus or proteinaceous molecule are also provided, as well as methods for producing same. A diagnostic kit of the invention may as well comprise a primer/probe capable of amplifying and/or hybridising the genome or part thereof of EV79.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle espèce d'entérovirus, dénommé(e) EV79, ainsi que des parties fonctionnelles, des dérivés et des analogues dudit virus. L'invention concerne également des molécules protéiniques, aptes à se fixer de manière spécifique sur l'EV79, comme des anticorps isolés ou recombinés. Un virus et/ou une molécule protéinique de l'invention s'utilise(nt) notamment pour le diagnostic d'une pathologie apparentée au EV79. L'invention concerne par ailleurs des vaccins, des compostions pharmaceutiques et des coffrets diagnostiques comprenant ledit virus ou ladite molécule protéinique, de même que des procédés permettant de les produire. Un coffret diagnostique de l'invention peut en outre comprendre une amorce/sonde moléculaire en mesure d'amplifier et/ou d'hybrider le génome ou une partie dudit génome de l'EV79.
