A flame retardant polymer comprising at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyamide, polyolefin, polyester, polyacrile, polystyrene and polyurethane, a flame retardant effective amount of an additive comprising at least one (a) hexavalent oxygenated sulfur compound and optionally at least one of (b) a char-forming agent, (c) a metal compound, (d) a filler or reinforcing agent, and (e) a flow modifier. By excluding halogens and phosphorus beneficial results are achieved without the negative consequences attending their presence.
Composition ignifuge polymères comprenant au moins un polymère choisi parmi une polyamide, une polyoléfine, un polyester, un polyacryle un polystyrène, un polyuréthane et un polycarbonate, et quantité à effet ignifuge d'un additif comportant au moins: (a) un composé soufré oxygéné hexavalent et facultativement au moins l'un des constituants suivants: (b) un agent formant un produit de carbonisation, (c) un composé métallique, (d) une charge ou un agent renforçateur, et (d) un modificateur d'écoulement. L'exclusion des halogènes et du phosphore permet d'obtenir des résultats satisfaisants sans les effets négatifs de leur présence.
