The invention relates to an ODS (oxide-dispersion-strengthened or particulate dispersion) type of material comprising a metal alloy matrix containing a dispersion of distributed reinforcement particles which impart optimal density and deformability to the material. The metal matrix comprises an alloy of zinc and bismuth, zinc and aluminium, tin and bismuth or tin and zinc and the reinforcement material comprises wolfram, ferrowolfram, oxides of both, carbides of both or derivatives thereof. The inventive material can be used to replace lead in the production of environmentally-friendly ammunition, fishing hooks, motor vehicle counterweights, X-ray and ionising radiation screens, golf clubs, waterworks and plumbing systems, as well as for electric and magnetic applications. The invention also relates to environmentally-friendly ammunition produced using the material comprising, for example, pellets.
Matériau de type ODS (Oxyde dispersed strenght ou de dispersion particulée) comprenant une matrice métallique en alliage et une dispersion de particules de renfort distribuées dans celle-ci, qui lui confèrent une densité et une déformabilité optimales. La matrice métallique est composée d'un alliage de zinc et de bismuth, de zinc et d'aluminium, d'étain et de bismuth, ou d'étain et de zinc, la matériau de renfort étant du tungstène ou du ferro-tungstère, d'oxydes des deux éléments, de carbures des deux éléments, ou de leurs dérivés. Le nouveau matériau permet de remplacer le plomb dans la fabrication de munitions écologiques, des hameçons pour la pêche, des contrepoids d'inertie dans les automobiles, des écrans face aux rayons X et au rayonnement ionisant, des clubs de golf, des conduites d'eau et de plomberie, ainsi que dans les applications électriques et magnétiques. Par ailleurs, les munitions écologiques de cette invention sont obtenue à partir dudit matériau composé, comme, par exemple, des plombs.
