The subject of the present invention is a novel mutant yeast strain, particularly a Yarrowia lipolytica strain, capable of accumulating a large quantity of lipids. The said strain does not express the GUT2 gene. According to one variant, the invention relates to mutant yeast strains, particularly Yarrowia lipolytica strains, which do not express the GUT2 gene and which furthermore do not carry out the ß-oxidation of lipids. Preferably, the mutant strains which do not express the GUT2 gene and which furthermore do not carry out the ß-oxidation of lipids do not express the POX 2 to POX 5 genes, most preferably the POX 1 to 6 genes. The subject of the invention is also a method for producing the strains according to the invention and the use of the said strains in the production of lipids.
La présente invention a pour objet une nouvelle souche mutante de levure, particulièrement une souche Yarrowia lipolytica, capable d'accumuler une grande quantité de lipides. Ladite souche n'exprime pas le gène GUT2. Selon une variante l'invention vise des souches mutantes de levures, particulièrement des souches de Yarrowia lipolytica, qui n'expriment pas le gène GUT2 et qui ne réalisent pas en outre la .beta.-oxydation des lipides. Préférentiellement, les souches mutantes qui n'expriment pas le gène GUT2 et qui ne réalisent pas en outre la .beta.-oxydation des lipides n'expriment pas les gènes POX 2 à POX 5), très préférentiellement les gènes POX 1 à 6. L'invention a encore pour objet un procédé d'obtention des souches selon l'invention et l'utilisation desdites souches dans la production de lipides.
