The present invention relates to new polyiodinated compounds of general formula: Image (I) in which R1 and R2, which are identical to or different from each other, represent a group of formula: Image and R3 and R4, which are identical to or different from each other, represent a group of formula Image with R1, R2, R3 and R4 comprising in total at least ten hydroxyls, which can be used in contrast media for radiography. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these compounds as well as to a contrast medium containing them.
