La présente invention concerne des composés polyiodés d'un poids moléculaire unique possédant une concentration moléculaire en iode supérieure à environ 20 % en poids, notamment supérieure à environ 30 % en poids, comportant au moins 9 atomes d'iode et possédant un poids moléculaire supérieur à 2000 et inférieur à environ 50.000, notamment supérieur à 2000 et inférieur à environ 20.000, caractérisés en ce qu'ils possèdent soit une charge électrique globale nulle, soit au moins deux charges anioniques et en ce qu'ils persistent dans le compartiment vasculaire à une valeur égale à au moins environ 30 % en poids de la dose injectée chez un sujet cinq minutes après l'administration intra-vasculaire ledit sujet.
