The invention relates to new compounds of the general formula (I), in which R1 is C1-C6 alkyl or aryl; R2 to R5 independently of each other are H, OH, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkylene or OR6, where R6 is C1-C6 alkyl or aryl; A n- is an anion; and n is 1 or 2. These compounds can be used as photosensitizers, for example in medicine, agricultural and industry.
