The invention concerns a novel use of bioactive silica containing glass. According to the present invention, the said glass is used for making a preparation which reduces the pulpal irritation of a tooth and/or strengthens the structure of a tooth. The invention also presents a pharmaceutical preparation, including a glass phase which is bioactive silica containing glass in the form of a paste, suspension or solution mixed in a physiologically suitable liquid or bound to a physiologically suitable vehicle, and which preparation reduces the pulpal irritation of a tooth and/or strengthens the structure of a tooth. Bioactive silica containing glass may be a material which contains only Si-oxide or Si-hydroxide and which allows the formation and movement of Si-OH-groups. Preferably, the preparation also comprises calcium and phosphate sources.
L'invention porte sur de nouvelles utilisations de verre à la silice bioactive, ledit verre servant selon l'invention à constituer une préparation réduisant les irritations de la pulpe dentaire et/ou renforçant la structure de la dent. L'invention porte également sur une préparation pharmaceutique comportant une phase vitreuse de silice bioactive où le verre se trouve sous forme de pâte, de suspension, ou d'une suspension ou d'une solution mélangée à un liquide ou à un véhicule physiologiquement acceptable, ladite préparation réduisant les irritations de la pulpe dentaire et/ou renforçant la structure de la dent. Le verre à la silice bioactive peut consister en un matériau ne contenant que de l'oxyde de Si ou de l'hydroxyde de Si et permettant la formation et le déplacement de groupes SiOH. La préparation comporte en outre de préférence des sources de calcium et de phosphates.
