ABSTRACT A nickel-based alloy containing by weight 13.5% to 14.5% chromium and 1.0% to 1.5% silicon, characterised in that it also contains at least one element selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, tungsten, niobium and tantalum, and optionally also containing up to 0.5% magnesium and/or up to 0.2% cerium. The alloys of the invention possess a comprehensive range of enhanced properties at high temperatures.
