PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION L'invention concerne une composition catalytique et un procédé pour la dimérisation, la codimérisation, et l'oligomérisation des oléfines, ladite composition résultant du mélange d'au moins un complexe du nickel bivalent contenant deux molécules de phosphine tertiaire, d'au moins un complexe du nickel ne contenant pas d'eau et de phosphine et d'au moins un halogénure d'alkylaluminium. Ce mélange est particulièrement utilisable dans les compositions liquides non-aqueuses à caractère ionique, par exemple celles que font les halogénures d'ammonium quaternaires et/ou les halogénures de phoshonium quatenaire avec les halogénures d'aluminium et/ou les halogénures d'alkylaluminium.
