ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Nicotinic derivatives of glucosamine, particularly N-nicotinoyl-glucosamine tetranicotinate have useful anti- lipolitic, hypocholesterolemizing and anti-aterogenic acti- vities, at a like or higher level than those of nicotinic acid, without the objectionable side effects as shown by the acid. For the preparation of the compounds of the invention nicotinoyl chloride hydrochloride and glucosamine hydro- chloride are reacted in an organic solvent at a temperature of between 40°C and 120°C.
