Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a process for the preparation of com- pounds of the general formula (I): Image (I) wherein X represents an amino, phenyl, a substituted phenyl group, or a nicotinoylamino group and Y represents hydrogen or a nicotinoyl group, which comprises nicotinoylating melamine or benzoguanamine or a derivative thereof which are collectively represented by the formula: (VII) Image where X1 is an amino or phenyl or substituted phenyl group. It also relates to the compounds of formula (I) so prepared. These compounds are of interest because they exhibit strong anti-ulcer and diuretic activity combined with low toxicity.
