Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide Composition and Method of Making Same Abstract This invention relates to a silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide shape and a method of making same from a batch including a small amount of carbon or carbon yielding material. The bonded shape when examined by X- ray diffraction includes no silicon oxynitride and the shape has excellent resistance to alkali attack. The shape would have application, for example, in the bosh lining of a blast furnace.
