This invention concerns a method and an apparatus for removing nitrogen and other low boiling point inorganic components from pressurized LNG bearing streams and streams produced therefrom. The removal of such components is accomplished via a novel pressure reduction/stripping (458) methodology thereby producing at least one low BTU nitrogen-rich gas stream (438) and at least one high BTU methane-rich stream (440) which is suitable for recycle to an open methane cycle liquefaction process and/or employment as a high quality fuel gas.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif d'élimination de l'azote et d'autres composants inorganiques à faible point d'ébullition contenus dans les courants pressurisés porteurs de gaz naturel liquéfié, et dans les courants qui en sont issus. L'élimination de ces composants se fait grâce à des procédés innovants de réduction ou de dégazolinage (458) permettant de dégager au moins courant gazeux faiblement calorique riche en azote (438) et au moins un courant fortement calorique riche en méthane (440) se prêtant au retraitement selon un procédé de liquéfaction du cycle ouvert du méthane, et/ou à l'utilisation comme gaz combustible de haute qualité.
