This invention provides a sensing device comprising an electrode comprising a noble metal layer, on which layer is located a biological material having nitroreductase activity. This invention further provides a method of detecting nitro group containing compounds, the method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a sensing device of the first aspect of the invention and a reference electrode; (b) applying a potential between the electrodes; (c) measuring the current; (d) contacting the sensing device with a sample of substrate material to be tested; and (e) measuring the current change.

L'invention porte sur un dispositif capteur qui comprend une électrode comportant une couche de métal noble sur laquelle est placé une matière biologique à activité nitroréductase. L'invention concerne également un procédé qui permet de détecter des composés contenant un groupe nitro, lequel procédé consiste à : (a) former un dispositif capteur selon le premier aspect de l'invention et une électrode de référence ; (b) appliquer un potentiel entre les électrodes ; (c) mesurer le courant ; (d) mettre le dispositif capteur en contact avec un échantillon de matière substrat à tester ; et (e) mesurer le changement de courant.
