ABSTRACT A noble metal recovery process using counter current contact of a flow of slurry with a flow of mercury in droplet form which mercury is collected and filtered to remove amalgams for recovery of noble metals. An electric charge may be applied to the mercury droplets to enhance recovery. Other materials collected by the mercury may be removed in cleaning cycles designed for their removal. The process may be operated on a batch or continuous basis.
