This invention relates to methods and apparatus for making and using node cuffs (14) on transcutaneous or intra-body prosthetic devices (20) such as catheters, to effect improved stability of the prosthesis/tissue opening site interface. In particular, the node cuff apparatus of the present invention provides for positioning of the tissue opening site in a manner which facilitates more rapid establishment of a stably bio-integrated and well healed prosthesis/tissue opening site interface. In addition, in accord with the methods of the present invention, non bio-integrated portions of the node cuff can be simply and easily removed from the underlying prosthetic device to facilitate maintenance of the stably bio-integrated interface. Preferably, this removal takes place after a period of time during which the interface has become stably established. In accord with the methods and apparatus of the present invention, thus infections or healing difficulties at the prosthesis/tissue opening site interface are greatly reduced, and a more comfortable and stable interface is more rapidly established and more easily maintained.
Cette invention se rapporte à des procédés et à un appareil de fabrication et d'utilisation de manchons (14), dotés de noeuds, sur des dispositifs (20) prothétiques transcutanés ou intracorporels du type cathéters, qui servent à améliorer la stabilité de l'interface prothèse / site d'ouverture des tissus. Le manchon doté de noeuds de la présente invention sert notamment à positionner le site d'ouverture des tissus de manière à faciliter et accélérer l'établissement d'une interface bien consolidée et biologiquement intégrée de manière durable entre le site d'ouverture des tissus et la prothèse. En outre, conformément aux procédés de la présente invention, il est possible de retirer simplement et facilement du dispositif prothétique sous-jacent les parties du manchon doté de noeuds qui ne sont pas biologiquement intégrées, afin de faciliter le maintien durable de l'interface biologiquement intégrée. De préférence, ce retrait est effectué après une période au cours de laquelle l'interface s'est stabilisée. Ainsi, les procédés et le dispositif de la présente invention réduisent considérablement les infections et problèmes de cicatrisation au niveau de l'interface prothèse / site d'ouverture des tissus; ils permettent d'accélérer la formation d'une interface stable et plus confortable et facilitent le maintien d'une telle interface.
