2071824 9109184 PCTABS00005 To insulate buildings, especially roofs and outer walls, against heat and/or noise, the system often used is to fit webs (12) or sheets (2, 3, 4) of mineral wool between abutments (27, 28) like rafters. On one side of the webs or sheets is adhesively secured or applied a foil as a vapour guard (5), the free longitudinal strips of which are folded inwards once or several times so that at least one longitudinal edge of the webs (12) or sheets (2, 3, 4) projects beyond the folded edge strips of the vapour guard (5). The webs (12) are packaged in rolls or the sheets (2, 3, 4) in stacks for packaging. To enable the webs (12) or sheets (2, 3, 4) to be easily fitted into the differing widths between abutments (27, 28) and facilitate both prior manufacture and handling on fitting, it is proposed that part of the projection of the longitudinal edge of a width at least equal to that of the greatest difference between different distances between the abutments (27, 28) is directly separated from the packaging unit (1) for fitting to every distance (40) between two abutments (27, 28) less a slight extra width.
