ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a method of reducing noise and/or distortion during the recording of signals, which method consists of reading the signal which is recorded in a first channel of a record carrier after a time delay ? and comparing it with the input signal which has been delayed by the same ?, to form a difference signal which is amplified and recorded in a second channel of the record carrier. During reproduction the signals of the two channels are added to each other in the correct proportion to produce an output signal compensated for noise and/or distortion.
