According to the invention, the digitized image (1) obtained by sensing noisy radiations is processed in a central unit (4). The image (1) is considered to be an array of pixel intensity values that is decomposed into p elementary arrays of n pixels which are then ordered into a processing array with p rows and n columns. A discrete cosine transform is applied to this array so as to deduce therefrom the n significant factors. A reconstructed processing array is then reconstructed by taking account of the most significant functions, and from this is deduced a reconstituted image in which the high-frequency noise is reduced, preserving satisfactory contrast.
Selon l'invention, on traite dans une unité centrale (4) l'image numérisée (1) obtenue en captant des rayonnements bruités. L'image (1) est considérée comme un tableau de valeurs d'intensité de pixels, que l'on décompose en p tableaux élémentaires de n pixels pour ensuite les ordonner en un tableau de traitement à p lignes de n colonnes. On applique à ce tableau une transformée en cosinus discrète, pour en déduire les n facteurs significatifs. On reconstruit ensuite un tableau reconstruit de traitement en prenant en compte les fonctions les plus significatives, et on en déduit une image reconstituée dans laquelle le bruit à haute fréquence est réduit, conservant un contraste satisfaisant.
