L'invention concerne des mousses thermostables de poly-amides aromatiques, pratiquement blanches, ininflammables ou auto--extinguibles. Elles sont obtenues par réaction en masse, à l'état fondu, a une température située entre 180 et 320° C, d'au moins un diisocyanate aromatique avec au moins un compose aromatique di-fonctionnel a fonctions acide, ces reactifs étant en quantités sensiblement stoechiométriques. Les produits ainsi obtenus sont utilisés pour l'isolation thermique et sonore.
