ABSTRACT A garment hanger having an improved locking clip, and a spring locking clip for use with clamp-type garment hangers is provided. The improved U-shaped locking clip includes inwardly extending ribs on the rear member that extend from the upper portion of the rear member downward close to the distal end of the rear member. The extension of the ribs toward the distal end of the rear member precludes the distal end of the rear member or any burr disposed thereon from interfering, digging into, binding, or otherwise engaging its associated exposed surface of the rear jaw of the clamp assembly. By precluding any engagement of the distal end of the rear member with the exposed surface of the rear jaw, the improved clip operates smoothly and is easier for the consumer to use.
