This invention provides an optical resin material, which has simultaneously reduced and substantially eliminated orientation birefringence and photoelastic birefringence, and an optical member comprising the material. The optical material comprises a multiple component system of three or more components containing a copolymerization system of a binary or higher system, and a combination of components constituting the multiple component system and the component ratio thereof are such that, in the optical material, both the orientation birefringence and photoelastic birefringence are simultaneously cancelled and are not more than 5.0 ~ 10-5 at a degree of orientation of a copolymer main chain of 0.03 and a photoelastic constant of not more than 1.0 ~ 10-12 (Pa-1). The multiple component system may contain an additive comprising a low-molecular organic compound, which is anisotropic in polarizability and can be aligned in a polymer. The multiple component system may comprise a ternary or higher copolymerization system. The optical member obtained by molding an optical resin exhibits substantially no birefringence even under the application of external force.

Cette invention prévoit une matière en résine optique, qui a réduit et en même temps éliminé de manière sensible la biréfringence d~orientation et la biréfringence photoélastique, ainsi qu~un élément optique contenant cette matière. La matière optique comprend un système à composants multiples de trois ou plus composants contenant un système de copolymérisation à système binaire ou supérieur, et une combinaison de composants constituant le système à composants multiples. Le rapport entre les composants est tel que, à l~intérieur de la matière optique, tant la biréfringence d~orientation que la biréfringence photoélastique sont annulées en même temps et n~excèdent pas 5,0 × 10-5 à un degré d~orientation d~une chaîne principale d~un copolymère de 0,03 avec une constante photoélastique n~excédant pas 1,0 × 10-12 (Pa-1). Le système à composants multiples peut contenir un additif comprenant un composé organique à faible poids moléculaire, qui est anisotrope en termes de polarisabilité et peut être aligné dans un polymère. Le système à composants multiples peut comprendre un système de copolymérisation ternaire ou supérieure. L~élément optique obtenu en moulant une résine optique ne présente quasiment aucune biréfringence même lors de l~application d~une force extérieure.
