Spring teeth (84) for a harvesting machine (10) are each constructed of spring wire having a square cross section and being wound so as to define a coil torsion spring section (88) terminating in a tine (86), with the tine having a leading flat surface (a), considered relative to the engagement of tine with the crop during pickup operation, and having a trailing flat surface (b) disposed parallel to said leading flat surface. The coil torsion spring is mounted to a tooth bar (80) formed as a channel member such that the outer surface of the coils make a relatively large area contact with the tooth bar at location (116) spaced approximately 180° from where the tine joins the coil torsion spring. This together with the fact that the contact area of the flat sides of the wire in the coil region is also quite large leads to a damping action that lessens stress in the tooth assembly.

Les dents flexibles (84) d'une machine de récolte (10) sont toutes constituées de fil à ressort ayant une section transversale carrée et enroulé de façon à définir une section de ressort de torsion en bobine (88) se terminant en une dent (86), la dent présentant une surface avant plate (a), en vue de la mise en prise de la dent avec la récolte lors de l'opération de ramassage, et présentant une surface arrière plate (b) disposée de manière parallèle à ladite surface avant plate. Le ressort de torsion en bobine est fixé à une barre de dent (80) conçue comme un élément formant conduit de telle sorte que la surface externe des bobines forme une surface de contact relativement grande avec la barre de dent à un emplacement (116) situé approximativement à 180° de la jonction entre la dent et le ressort de torsion en bobine. Cette caractéristique ainsi que la taille relativement grande de la surface de contact des côtés plats du fil dans la région de la bobine génèrent un effet amortisseur qui diminue les contraintes dans l'ensemble formant dent.
