ABSTRACT In a coil or winding for a device that uses alternating current, it is known that the maximum energy is available for use when the voltage and the current are in phase. The self-induction of the coil causes the current to be shifted out of phase and the maximum energy is then not available. In this invention, the wound conductor of the coil is made with two strips of metal separated by a thin layer of dielectric, which gives the conductor the characteristics of a capacitor. The conductor can be chosen from a chart which shows the capacitance per meter of conductor. The resulting capacitance in the coil counteracts the effects of self- induction and the maximum energy is then available for use. To properly connect the wound coil to the wires of an alternating current circuit, a terminal connector is provided at both ends of the winding, with one terminal connected to one of the said strips of metal and the other terminal connected to the other strip of metal.
