The present invention provides non-invasive methods and kits for facilitating the diagnosis or prognosis of tissue remodeling-associated conditions, such as cancers, arthritis conditions, obstructive disorders, degenerative disorders, and wound- healing and ulcerative disorders. A biological sample, such as urine, is obtained, and screened for the presence of an enzyme, such as a metalloproteinase, associated with the condition(s).
