A less lethal projectile formed of resilient material, for use as a deterrent or in situations where behaviour modification of an individual or individuals is necessary. The projectile incorporates a crushable zone in its nose portion, advantageously comprising a hollow chamber (4), which deforms on impact with a hard surface such as the skull but which does not deform when striking an area of soft tissue such as the abdomen. This provides that the projectile will cause sufficient pain in a target to act as a deterrent, whilst carrying a much lower risk of causing severe or permanent injury when compared with solid projectiles.

L~invention décrit un projectile moins mortel formé d~un matériau résilient, destiné à être utilisé à titre dissuasif ou dans les situations nécessitant de devoir modifier le comportement d~un ou plusieurs individus. Le projectile intègre une zone écrasable dans sa partie avant, laquelle présente l~avantage de comporter une chambre creuse (4) qui se déforme lors de l~impact contre une surface dure telle que le crâne, mais ne se déforme pas lorsqu~elle frappe une zone de tissu mou telle que l'abdomen. Ainsi, le projectile causera une douleur suffisante chez l~individu cible de manière à avoir un effet dissuasif, tout en présentant un risque bien moindre de causer une blessure grave ou irréversible, par rapport aux projectiles pleins.
