A non-liquid proton conductor membrane for use in an electrochemical system, under ambient conditions, the electrochemical system comprising (a) an anode plate; (b) a cathode plate; and (c) a non-liquid proton conductor membraneinterposed between the anode plate and cathode plate, such that an electrical contact is formed between the anode plate and cathode plate via the non-liquid proton conductor membrane and ions flow therebetween, the non-liquid proton conductor membrane including (i) a matrix polymer dissolvable in a first solvent; (ii) an acidic multimer dissolvable in the first solvent; wherein, the matrix polymer is selected such that when the non-liquid proton conductor membrane is contactedwith a second solvent, the non-liquid proton conductor membrane swells and as a result the electrical contact improves.

Conducteur protonique à membrane non liquide pour utilisation dans un système électrochimique dans des conditions de température ambiante; le système électrochimique comporte : a) une plaque anodique, b) une plaque cathodique et, c) une membrane non liquide conductrice de protons interposée entre la plaque anodique et la plaque cathodique, de manière telle qu'un contact électrique est formé entre la plaque anodique et la plaque cathodique par l'intermédiaire de la membrane non liquide conductrice de protons, et qu'une circulation d'ions est établie entre les deux; la membrane non liquide conductrice de protons comporte : i) une matrice soluble dans un premier solvant et, ii) un multimère acide soluble dans le premier solvant; la matrice est sélectionnée de sorte que lorsque la membrane non liquide conductrice de protons vient en contact avec le deuxième solvant, la membrane non liquide conductrice de protons gonfle, ce qui a pour effet d'améliorer le contact électrique.
